The Challenge

The CU shuttle bus service has been operating since 2000. The first shuttle buses were smaller and ran ondiesel fuel.  These were eventually replaced by two new models: the first powered by a hybrid engine while the second is fully electric. Apart from the vehicle upgrade, the university has also expanded the transportation routes within and around campus for the following reasons:

  1. To make campus transportation more convenient for students, faculty, staff and the public
  2. To decrease emmisions caused by diesel fuel combustion

The Method

  1. The CU Shuttle bus began service in 2000, using vehicles with diesel diesel fuel engines. Passengers had to purchase coupons to use the shuttle bus service.
  2. In 2007, the shuttle buses were upgraded to a newer model with a hybrid engine, and the service was made free.
  3. In 2008, fully electric buses were added to the fleet to operate on short routes.
  4. Passengers can download the CU Pop Bus application to track the location of shuttle buses. The application is available for download on iTunes at https://itunes.apple.com/th/app/cupopbus/id824843908?l=th&mt=8.
  5. English signs and audio announcements have been added to make the service more practical for foreigners, especially exchange students.
